Rhine Legions. Anonymous, circa May/June-December 68. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 2.35 g, 11 h), uncertain mint in Gaul or in the Rhine Valley. 'S P Q R Group'. SALVS GENERIS HVMANI Victory standing right on globe, holding wreath in her right hand and palm frond in her left. Rev. S P Q R within laurel wreath. BMC -, cf. 31 (oak wreath). CG 103.1 (this coin). Harshly cleaned and with numerous scratches, otherwise, good fine.

This extremely rare variety replaces the oak wreath on the reverse with a laurel wreath. It is known in three examples only, all of which were struck from the same die pair and are present in the Gollnow collection (lots 1111-1113).
